help with ignition
here are those two wires i was talking about. they come from the fire wall along with the other two wires that connect to the S and I terminals.

With the key in the on position, do you have voltage to the coil? Does everything else (lights, etc.) work? With regard to the "I" terminal on the solenoid, the car may be a bit harder to start but it should start and run even if it's disconnected. All it does is supply a full 12 volts to the coil when the ignition switch is in the start position. It is spliced into the coil power wire after the resistor.
Hi eZ,
what do you mean with hotwiring ?
a) you have the key in ignition position and lead a cable from the battery in engine bay to the startermotor so it starts up and then runs ?
b) you lead a cable at the ignition switch from plus to ignition and for a short time as well to the starter ?
if it's
a) then you have + on ignition as otherwise the car would stall again. in this case the engine should go off again, as soon as you turn ignition off again with key
b) if you just circuit the i gnition switch here and you get the oilpressure light on when you do that (engine not started). Then yes my best guess as well would be the ignition switch
Can you clarify that ? might be able to help further then

i run a cable from the positive side of the of the solenoid to the coil. then i arch the positive side of the solenoid the the S. it fires right up
