ORIGINAL: Decurion

I found a guy who has 31 spline axles and housings for $500, may have been for the earlier mustang, but he may have for wider body too.

Gothand, where are you coming up with these prices? You probly know more about jeeps/4x4s than me, but 5-6k even for a well modded d60 front diff with air locker an axles an blah blah blahseems pretty steep.

Build you own Rock Jock 60 front end on Currie's website. For a bolt-in for a Jeep TJwith the bells and whistles, it is $7900. For the rear it is $4430.

Heck, u-joints alone are $200 each. [sm=bling.gif]

So, you can see that switching my interests back to my Mustang is a lot cheaper by comparison ... that is what I keep telling my wife anyway.

I'm sure you probably already know that you do not want a spool on the street .... chirp, chirp, chirp, chirp as he rounds the corner.

That sucks. If I were you, I'd consider buying a complete third member already assembled with the gears and differential of your liking. I'm guessing it won't be that much more than buying the carrier, gears, diff and instal kit separately.

BTW, are you going with chromoly shafts?

Good luck!

I would love to go with a 4-link but thats just not happening with the money I have to spend right now. However, I am talking to the guy I found on ebay and he's saying he can build me a complete setup with Moser axles, new posi, discs for less than $2000. I think thats the route I'm going to go with... If I were still in Texas I would probably just keep doing the build myself and stick with the spool just for the heck of it, but I have to drive home from California for the Summer and I don't wanna risk mountain driving with a spool back there. chiirp chirp chirp chirp chirp for 1700 miles...
