a friend of mine has a boss 429. i met him at a car show and since i was such a fanatic he let me sit in it, and check out everything. i got the video recorded on my phone and will post it on myspace. it is all original and the paint does have some scratches and swirls but he just never has wanted it repainted. i was awed by how simple yet amazing it is. and the clutch is really high to boot.

mine is the oldest in Ireland if that counts anything .... :-)
they actually seem to grow like mushrooms over here. When I got mine 2 years ago, there were about 15 in the whole county. Now there's about 50 ?!

depends what the criteria is for rarest ... how about a 67 GT coupe with all paperwork since 1967 - 100% documented! only 3 owners

I know that would be difficult to evaluate how many ponys like that are out there ...

My 67 is super rare. It's a standard hardtop which isonly one of about 325,823 built. It came with the ultra rare and highly desirable C code 289 2V (which was missing). It was painted an extemely uncommon candy apple red (when was the last time you saw a red Mustang?). It had such low mileage (just over 150,000) that it would be a shame not to restore it to original. There was almost no rust (on the dash pad) so I only had to replace most of the metal. Due to it's rareity, I have had some trouble locating all the original type parts since there are only about 300,000 coupes left in existance. I was able to restore it to anearly original 429 powered Eleanor coupe with 4 wheel disc brakes! Well I used mostly Ford parts anyway, Grananda, Versailles, LTD, F150, Cougar, etc. etc.
It's fair to say however, there aren't many like it now. In all seriousness it was a Sports Sprint but as it turns out they wern't all that rare in 67 either.

Coming to your fine country next March (2009). Looking forward to seeing those Mustangs while we are there.

Marti says mine is one of two based on options. Color & interior alone put it at about 800. Rare can be one of those things that are not so good also. If the car was red with purple interior, it could be rare, but only because no one wanted them.

The most rare one I've ever seen is the 1969 Quarter Horse. There were two built, but one was crushed when a shipping container fell on it. (legend has it anyways)Both were owned by the USAF. One was a Boss 429 and the other a 428SCJ. One was red and the other blue. Both had Mustang bodies but Cougar XR7 interiors with lots of other serious factory mods.

And my 'K'code is an automatic C4. I was in contact with another 'K' code automatic owner from the LA area and he claimed that Ford only sold about 200 'K' autos for all body styles for 66. I know the 'K' code engine is rare and in 67 it's even more so.
Jim
I walk way from this 67 k code 3 years ago . The guy wanted $8900.00 Canadian I offered $8200 and he wouldn't take itI want backa weeks later and it was gone, The one that got away.He didn't know what he had until I told him that it was rare.
