HUZAH!
now the question is, could i cut the holes and put in some autometer gauges and make it look good? or would they hang over and look stupid?
IRCC gauges come in 2 5/8ths and 3 3/8ths, would this be close enough?
i was thnkin this for the small one: http://autometer.com/cat_gaugedetail...882&sid=15
and then the same style for the tach http://autometer.com/cat_gaugedetail...831&sid=15

Are you going to mod the interior or leave it fairly stock?
there are also these from Autometer which are a copy of the old Smiths gauges, very similar to what they used in some of the cobras. look classic, work new, good compromise IMO

the other alt is the Stewart Warner ones used in the R-model Shelby's.

had a look at that tech article too
do the 65's have the speaker grille in the top center of the dash?
If yes, i'd be looking to sneak wires back thru there rather than cutting the dash pad. If you use some of that heat/ shrink wiring wrap it would be barely visible (and not at all from inside the car) and save cutting holes you may regret later. just a thought!
post some pics when youre done!

so ive been pretty much gung ho for autometer gauges, but i went to stewart warner and they have some cool stuff! i like the green line series! but really what i wanted to say was that they have some tachs that go up to 6k not 8 so since my car cuts off at like 5500-5600 this is good news! it will make me feel like im really takin her to the red line!!
says for deisel applications...would it work with my car?

no the diesel one wont work on your car unless you plan on swapping the current engine out for a stinker.
there are other 6k ones on their site though

I think 8k will inspire you to build a better engine

james is right about wraping the wires and runing them on top of the dash gauges are up to you i love the autometer cobra series but i think they are too big for that pod. id search autometers site by size and see what shows up
