Has anyone around here ...
you got it from your grandmother? Please don't tell me she's had it for 40+ yearswith only 30,000 miles because sheonly drove it to the grocery store and church. If so, don't tear that thing apart. I'm all for restomods, but I can't support tearing up an origional that some little old lady kept in perfect shape. So if that is what you've got, then I beg you to sell it and get another one for a mod project.
No she bought it used like 30 years ago. About 20 years ago she parked it out in the elements because it broke. 15 years ago my father, my uncle and I pushed it into the their barn. 5 years ago when I was just working on my Grandfathers parked K-code car I said I would be back for hers to fix therust bucket even if it wasn't a race car.Two years ago on Chirstmas we picked up the car for my little brother to restore. One year ago he was in over his head and I found a less problemedMustang for him to work on, and I pickedup the car and dubbed it "Project II".
Plus, I come from a family of racers. My Grandmother was no exception.
Don't worry about the car being butchered. It will have a totally stock appearance. I am just adding a motor and tranny that is worth a d@mn, and spicing up thepaint with still stock colors. It should look similar to my avatar picture up there. Plus, if it was in near perfect shape someone else in my family would have gotten it.
Shoot, sorry for rambling.

5.5 leafs will be sooo uncomfortable and bounce around like crazy if the road isnt perfectly smooth.I think one of the best looking changes is simply shaving the emblems and the seamless qrts arent that hard to do with some know how. Def a good look one im gonna due when i redo her again.

Oh I will eventually up the tires, but one miracle at a time please. Affording this car has been a hassle already. Plus, I do have a set of Cragers from aVette that might fit. Though I really don't plan on high test racing this car. My K-code Mustang (my baby) has stock rims with a good set of tires and she does just fine.

the vette rims wont fit
if you want to keep the stock hubcaps and run externally as a sleeper, why are you putting a shelby valence on it? It will be half asleep
Seriously, you can get the original rims widened and leave the caps. Fit a wider tyre, problem solved, sleeperness retained.
why dont you post what you actually want to do...others will comment with good/ bad/ alternatives.

And hey jspagna1has a Shelby valance and spoiler (I think) and that doesn't look too unsleeperish at all. I only want those items for keeping the engine cool and sticking the car to the road.
And hey, widening the rims.
That is a good idea, a very good idea. yeah[:-]Whatthe car will be: Clearwater Aqu paint, Aqu/Wht pony Interior, No black paint on this car (not even the emblems, axles, engine bay, and chassis,) 5.0 motor with a T-5, and a complete sleeper look.
Currently rebuilding: the front end, the motor andtranny which is hanging from scaffoldling (actually the motor if fine, Im just going to repaint it).
Done: the floors (with fiberglass [8D]I love my boating skills), undercoating with Por-15, patching and epoxy primering coat two, and a Painless wiring set is just waiting to be installed.
What Im asking y'all for is good performance upgrades, which is a good motor, suspension help like mat11089said, and is there a good tire that will fit stock rims
what's your budget and time frame?
what's your driving preference - straight line speed, cruising, corners, highway speed?
if money and time are no object, I would do the full front coilover, bigger brakes (but that throws the stock rims out the window), rack and pinion, 9" rear with Detroit true trac etc, some chassis bracing
Assuming your 5.0 is an EFI, there are limits to how far you can go with the original engine management system and injectors. Making 400 plus is gunna be expensive.
This is fun. I love spending other people's money

Budget hahahahaha. Construction working Starving student. Ive been doing all of the work myself, and would like to be finished by August before I go back to school.
But lets see, driving preferences[:-]to thatI would say...yes, yes that is about right.
I keep hearing about this rack and pinion, what is that?
And stop spending my non-exsistant money
