7" wide rims will not cause the tire to rub. If you are not going to drive that car, what does it matter which tires and rims are on it? You don't drive trailer queens.

I'm going to go with 15x7/225 front and 15x8/235 back. I think 235 front& 245 back will fit, but I'll go down one size from that to be safe. Or if the tire store is being cool, I may get them to mount it both ways to see what works.

I don't care about rotating. First of all, the tires on my 65 always seem to dry rot way before I use up a fraction of the tread. Plus the15" tires I've seen don't don't cost that much anyway, so I'm not worried about them not going as far.

Hey Soaring:

Trailer queen?! Not this baby. In fact, if I weren't in production I'd be headed your way in June!

But to answer your question, on my 66 hardtop daily driver, I got a set of 67 styled steel wheels. They are wider but you can't tell. I have radials on it and that car handles better than my 66 K with the repro stock dual red lines and original styled steel wheels. Less tire squeal too.
Jim
I did the exact same thing with my 66'. I got the 67's and I just changed the center caps to the 66' ones.
I ran 205/65/14 on the front and 215/70/14 on the back.
I actually like the trim ring on the wheels.
But if you are going to a wider wheel, I would go with 15 x 7 all around. you can go with same size tire(225/60/15) all around or go with a staggered set up(235/60/15) on the back.

You will want some fatter tires with that supercharger. I can guarentee it. You can't get the back tires too wide in my opinion.

hahaha you just like the look of fat stripes on the pavement instead of skinny (ricer) stripes.

No, you just don't get any grip with the original tire sizes.
