I'm probably going to ruffle some feathers, but there IS replacement for displacement. It's called technology.
And it comes in the form of fuel injection with turbos, intercoolers and supercharges. I love all cars and I have a Buick Grand National. Those 3.8L intercooled turbos run like a bat out of hell. And those aren't light cars either, read like 3500lbs. Your Mustang is probably not quite 1000 lbs less than that, but any day of the week a GN will blow your doors off. Those things ran a 0-60 in 4.9 seconds. But anyway, like I said I like all cars, and want to go back to the old styling of the 60's. I've realized I don't need the fastest car to have fun and enjoy my ride. In fact I enjoy it more when I'm getting decent gas mileage with today's prices at the pump. Basically, this is just a warning that your old muscle car might not be as fast as you would like to think it is. Cool, fun, great looking car, but watch out for technology as mentioned above. That's why I've heard about some guys turbo and supercharging their I6's. Have fun and good luck.

 

Your guys' estimates on a '66 Coupe w/ 302 roller, light mods, t-5, and 3.50 posi with drag radials 0-60mph time?

 

i knew a kid in high school who swore his turbo'd dodge daytona was the fastest thing around. well, he talked smack to my buddy with a 68 camaro vert (perfect condition, beautiful car) with a freshly build nasty little 283. i'll have to tell you, that camaro beat that turbo daytona by like 8 million cars LOL

 

That ugly thing just proves what a ***** ol' Shel was... he'd put his name on anything for a buck...

I was just watching a show last week and it stated the reason Shelby worked with Dodge was because his buddy from the Mustang, Lee Iacoca was over at Chrysler and asked him to do for them what he originally asked him to do for the Mustang ... give a family car a racing image.

FWIW, it stated that when he first did the Shelby DodgeCharger it was faster than the current year 5.0L Mustang. []

 

shelby did alot of fwd dodges in the 80s the turbo dodge omni like that are crazy sleeper i seen videos of a 80s dodge minivan that was a turbo thing ran a 12 in the 1/4 was funny to see
