Default Thermactor

What is it? I think it has to do with smog equipment. The reason for asking is because my dad wants electronic ignition in his 66 vert. We are going to go with the Pertronix Ignitor for a 6 cyl, but when I search for them there are two different types. One is for a 6cyl with Thermactor and the other if for a 6cyl without Thermactor. His 6cyl still has the original smog equipment, but I just wanted to make sure which one to get. Does anyone know why there is a difference?

Also, will we need a Flamethrower coil for the Ignitor to work? Or can we reuse the original style coil?

Google is your friend. And tell your dad that he has a super clean 66 vert. I just know he's proud of it.

Thanks Soaring. Oh ya he is excited! It's just been raining constantly the last few days since he's got it. It's a thousand times better in person. I can't wait until we can get both of em out together this summer, pics will come soon!

The only difference I can see is the hollow shaft and solid shaft versions of the Pertronix. I don't know what that means except it may have to do with the advance and retard feature of the distributor. I think that feature was used in 67 or 68 on. Contact Pertronix and ask. To be truthful, just about everone here in California has had a terrible disaster - their smog equipment fell off (hint).
