I originally had 40 series Flowmasters with 3" x pipe and 2.5 tail pipes. I just switched to a Magnaflow 3" stainless steel kit with X pipe, and 3" tail pipes. The Magnaflow sounds way better all around. It is louder than the flowmasters but I swapped in a 408 at the same time I did the exhaust and that might have something to do with it too.

Hmmm??? I would guess soo..

I just picked up 2 flowmaster 40's for $50!!!!!!! Cant wait to get mine together.. with the 2.5 inch exhaust off of some long tubes..

i'd have to say that the flowmaster 50 series sounds good, i have a 302 and it gives it a good sound, but not overdone like super 40s tend to be (also have hooker competition headers)

Think Im going to go with long tubes... After unbolting my exhaust today from the factory manifolds I never want to have to deal with the exhaust that close to the motor and cramped up like that again.. So, im still debating on which long tubes I want.. allways decisions..

I have flow 40 series and they do sound TOO loud at times inside, I meant to get the 40 delta flows which are suppose to have a lower interior resonance, their website has different sound clips
Ah, I was disappointed. You only have an idle sound.
Soaring, hope this is better. Holiday weekend but I got to the video camera after all...

Maverick75, hope this helps...

Stock 289, Dual 2 1/2" pipes off stock manifold, Flowmaster 40 series.
