Default Two speed Mustang

I did a sweet burnout today and lost 3rd gear. I didn't actually burnout into 3rd but when it did go into 3rd it just revved. I felt it want to go in but it just free wheeled. If I feather the throttle for a while it will go in. I basically have to let off the gas and slowly accelorate before the free wheeling ends and then she's in gear. If I stop, I have to go throught the same process. 1st and 2nd are fine. The fluid level is fine. I'm wondering if I need to adjust the clutches or maybe I'm screwed. Any body have the same experience?

That's why you don't do burnouts, they have a way of frying trannies

i lost 3rd gear in my c4 too. i was driving...fast and BLAM car dropped about 10 mph (to 97) and redlined like a beesting[8D] took it to a tranny shop and they said it had never been rebuilt and it was just its time, so now the mofugga shifts like BEAST shifts REALLY hard!

At least I know my toploader can take quite a bit of abuse

I can't wait to drop my top loader and the 347 in. I have friend who is giving me a hydraulic throwout bearing for my clutch setup. Holy crap, my tires won't have a chance then!

Quick question. It's been twenty something years since changing a filter on a C4. If I remember correctly, is it 6 quarts of ATF (including the converter)? I was told that since I still have reverse that it may be a stuck valve in the valve body. I'm thinking of getting a B&M transpack just to mess around until I do the toploader swap. How much are those puppies running these days. I think we used to give $30-$40 back in the day. We used to strectch the springs a little more to give the first to second a real bang. While I'm at it of course the filter will be changed.
