There is a spray that you spray on the back of the pads that help stop the rattle. It's kind of a thick plastic looking stuff. Anti-rattle? I don't know, but I remember using it.

Can anyone tell me what the shims do for brake pads?
Shims are thin metal plates (like 0.015") thatare stuck behind (with double stick or adhesive) both pads and reduce noise from brake operation. Most premium catagory pads come with them (Bendix, most store brands). Some calipers don't open enough when everything is new and full thicknessto allow their use. With Granada, they are most useful on the outer pad.

The fact that no one knows aboutthemmust mean that no one buys premium pads.
Or never had the problem/ situation that required them.
