Mustangs Unlimited is where I got mine. I splurged for the stainless ones. If you get a cooler then one line will be spliced into. It is always good to keep the trany cool but unless you are racing or dragging you really don't need one.

You need a cooler, whether it be built into the radiator or you use an external one. Your transmission does not have a lock-up torque converter, so it will be producing heat at all times.

I found a kick-*** factory tranny cooler (8" x18") on a 72 LTD in the bone-yard. I disconnected it and the fluid that was in it poured out clear and bright red so there was no tranny-sludge in there. I flushed it out with brake-clean and air just to make sure. But be careful getting one from there or you could fill your tranny full of crap.

That is what his stock lines are for....the "built in" cooler that is located in the radiator. Most automatics have these stock...actually I don't know of one that does not. The tranny works off of friction so yes there is lots of heat producedhowever unless your ride is modded or you are racing, dragging, towing, etc. you do not have to have one. It cannot hurt to have a bit of extra cooling though. For the weekend driver, I would not waste my time or money. I do have one on my truck, but I use it to tow my cars and tractor, I also have one on my 69 but the PO used the car to drag with. Heat does kill a tranny, but the stock cooler should be sufficient enough to keep it cool. Some times it can be a pain to tap into one of the lines...also when you do, there is a potential for a leak when you do this. If you do decide to go that route, put a ****** end on your rad. line and a ****** end on you cooling line, that way you can always go back to stock if you have problems. If you get a cooler, go to summit, they have a couple to chose from that will help either way and they are not that expensive. You do risk pin holes or getting crap in your tranny on junk yard ones.
