Default enamel black.

So I have a gallon of gloss black enamel paint left over from whenI painted a 85 Silverado. I'm in the process of repainting my 70 coupe. I'm getting the enigne bay and front rails all cleaned up. i was think to just spray the black enamel in there butim going to go with base coat and clear coat on the rest of the car. my question is would the base coat clear coat hold up better in there then the enamel?

I think a tough enamel would be better.

One note though.... Glossy black engine bays are somewhat distracting. Recommend you get with your paint supplier and see if there's a way to flatten that paint before shooting it.
