A/F Ratio Going Lean!
hum.....I wonder if the accellerator pump could be the cause of my carb problems as well. My car is cranking and running wonderfully, but if i give it too much gas, or try to accelerate quickly it bogs down even sometimes stalls...I have a good bit of soot on my tailpipes, i think my carb is running rich, idk...maybe this is something to look into as well instead of looking at replacing my carb

so i need a 5.5 , i have not check for a leak around my carb yet.

check for leaks around the carb. for that just spray some brake cleaner or wd40 around it while it's running.
If idle or mixture changes, then you'll have a leak. Make sure to not spry into the area of air intake as this will surely change idle, mixture then

got some good resluts to night , changed my jets to 72 -84 from 64-72 put back in the 6.5 Pv and and changed the bowle ,metering blockand base gaskets , took it for i spin and it did better , took the gas way better at a roll to WOTit pulled like a champ but lean to 15.5 up top, at a dead stop toWOT it stillgose lean.
Do i need a 50cc Accel pump kit? i have my Squiters to the max with the 30cc pump
or just bump the jest up more?

With the cam you have you do NOT need the 50cc pump. There are only 2 cams that give the full 50cc shot on the 50cc pump setup(don't use them on a 30cc pump, you'll damage it). The 50cc is for monster engines, which you do not have. It's your accelerator pump, it's a combination of squirter size, cam selection and MAKING SURE THAT THE CAM IS PROPERLY ACTUATING THE PUMP ARM!!! The cam needs to be set so that as SOON as the throttle is being opened, the pump is being worked, the pump actuating arm should be on the flat part of the cam at idle, and should imediately start running up the cam lobe when you move the throttle. Getting the right combination of cam/squirter just takes time, and some engines are more fickle than others. That double pumper ain't gonna help either, you have 2 accelerator pumps to work, and it needs to be just right for each one. It takes time, trial and error
thats a HUGE jump in jetting.. didnt you say it was fine after the stumble was thorugh? if you can roll on the throttle from a dead stop ( lock it in 2cnd gear if you can) if you do this andand you donthave any problems and your fuel ratio is fine id say its only accelorator pump.. one way to mask the problem is to run it ritch at idle, it should help mask the transision from idle circut to cruise circut, not a fix just a cover up.. take off your air filter and witht he car running or not doesnt really matter oppen the throttle a few times and make sure you have a consistant stream of fuel comming outta the squrters if it has bubbles or isnt a consistant stream you may have a bad diaphram, dirt in the passage to the diaphram, or somehtign along those lines.. also was your vacume reading of 11hg while drving or at idle? theres a few ways to get close to the correct power valve but i believe holly says to just devide your reading at idle by 2..
and 67mustang302 is right you need to make sure the arm contacts the pump as soon as the throttle is touched if there is a large delay you need to adjust it..
good luck
