where do I start?

From just looking at it and not taking it apart yet it appears rust free. It doesnt look bad at all. We were thinking about ripping out the interior first.

suspension and brakes first the cars gotta be able to be moved around safely, then the mechanical then the body /interior

What I would do is just like everybody else said, strip it down first. Then once you figure out what your working with, decide what color your painting it (if it needs paint) and paint it after you get everything out.

that is a very good idea. what brakes and suspension is recommended? I want to make sure I do it right.
