wow soaring, i didnt peg you for an anti-falcon guy. i think they are pretty cool cars actually, i really think they deservemore attention than they get...... just like the mavericks and the II's
But the truth of the matter is that they don't. That's what makes them just an old Ford car. You may even notice that classic parts vendors list parts for 1965-73, then skip to 1979. Obviously there isn't much market for the II's, and I figure there isn't much market for a 60's Falcon or Maverick either.
I am not anti-Falcon. I would own one in a heartbeat, but I had better not have to spend much money in maintaining it. But, as we all know, that is not gonna happen.

My first car (that I had to bust my *** for 2 solid summers as a kid to earn the 150 bucks to buy it) was a 66' Falcon. That car was awesome. 3 on the tree, dealer installed Air. 2 Door Coupe. If I could, I'd build one just because.

IMO, your mileage may vary. It's way more rewarding to build a drive train than it is to paint. It's something that can be done in a garage and not have to get everything filthy in it. I'd hold off for something that needs minimal paint/body work and build a motor for it. Heck, you can find one running, get a donor motor, start the build AND drive it with the wore out motor in it while your building the new one.

Good luck in any case.

does anybody get their moneys worth when rebuilding a classic right away anyway? no. you've gotta wait it out, but i dont think people build (MOST OF THE TIME enthusiasts like us!) for the money, they do it cuz they love classics.
exactly. And that's why he shouldn't do the Falcon. I mean, if it's not his ideal car, then he'll be less likely to keep it long term, and won't have a chance to wait it out.* After all, I don't get the impression that he's a Falcon enthusiast.

*wait it out, usually translates to waiting for inflation to push the value up to what you spent on it. And that means you still lost money, you just didn't notice it as much.

Anyway, I wasn't saying he shouldn't do a project. I was just suggesting he minimize his total investment cost by buying a better car with less rust.

i would love a falcon with a v8 and a 4 speed, no one would see it commmin.
in that case you should start with a Pinto.

I was in the Army from 1966-1969. I was stationed in Alaska and bought a 1966 Falcon. Well, about two weeks after I bought it the transmission started leaking on the snow. The wife said it is having its' period because the auto tranny fluid back then was red.
