go with the 3 point belts in front for sure.

it would look stupid if you put one in
well, if they do crash withouta shoulder strap and get a steering column through their torso,at least they won't look "stupid".

ORIGINAL: mike68

their is no head rest so it will break your neck if you crash
That's a reason to add a head rest, but it isn't a reason to not have a shoulder belt. Infact, the shoulder strap would actually reduce the chances of whiplash and having your neck break. Yes, the high headrest would be even more effective, but shoulder belt would make that situation better, not worse.

For a cheap alternative if you want lapbelts only, hit the junkyard and pull the rear seat belts from a couple 4 door cars with the same color interior as your car. Junkyards will almost give that stuff away because hardly anyone wants it.

Some states dont require a pre 67 vehicle to have them, some do. Its a good idea to put some in. Additional bracing under the floor pan similar to what the factory did should be a high priority. If you dont spread the load out, the bolts will simply rip through the floor in even a small impact.

you cant put a shoulder belt in that car...first of all it didnt come with one and it would look stupid if you put one in and second their is no head rest so it will break your neck if you crash
I always thought the headrest only protected you during a rear-end collision (a la whiplash), and didn't do anything in a front-end collision since all your weight is moving forward, not backwards.

Are you saying that (in a front-end collision) after your body is stopped by the shoulder belt, that you then get whipped backwards? I'm asking because I honestly don't know. I'm trying to figure out the physics in my head.

For the record, I have and subsequently use shoulder belts in my 67.
