Bingo! Remember that those instructions are generic and address only the barest specific to each type of car. I've 'heard' that 'bow tie' and 'doggie' guys use them too.

I'd bet that your accelerator linkage is not set right, and you may have not set the return spring right either ... I ran into a similar situation ... scared the sh.. out of me when I first cranked up the car

I have learned that not all things on a 65 are exactly like things on a 66, but I feel relatively sure that this is how you should put your return spring on your linkage. You can also see threads at the end of the rod where you can adjust the linkage.

You've got it right as far as I know Glen. With a Holley carb, I've found that you may have to put a washer or two under the spring bracket to properly clear the base plate. Putting it on an Edelbrock requires a bit more creativity.

Or a $2 part from the auto parts store. Here is how I got mine rigged. It is kinda hard to see it, but if you zoom the pic in you can tell. All you need is a little bracket that bolts into the top of the manifold.

EDIT: http://www.musclecarsusa.com/shop/ca...nlvofunfl.html
Here is the part he needs. That is what the back of the return spring connects to.

Dang Steve, looks like you have a garden hose for a fuel line.
I couldn't figure out how to zoom in. It's hard to tell, but I can imagine with that part you gave a link to that it fits on the first bolt of the carb.

Yeah, the fuel line is a little big[]

Right now the car is at the tranny shop, but I will have it back in about 45 minutes. I will take a better pic of the bracket and where it mounts and post it up.

Got the car back from the tranny shop, and I now am missing first gear and the shifter is really tight to slide into gear. Guess it is back to the shop tomorrow.

Here is the pic of the return spring setup. Pretty simple and helps clean it up some.

Ok this is getting scary for me. It looks like the longer i let it run, the faster it goes. And when i mean fast ... i mean fast !
I took some pictures for you guys to see. Maybe you're seeing something strange. I definitely don't know where to look. This is not just normal idle running. Something is definitely wrong.

Need some expertise here guys.

Your secondaries appear to be partially open. Try adjusting your linkage back near the firewall.
