Personaly I would fix the car and keep it. Is the car built in 64 or 65. Just wondering, I'd still restore it and keep it because the 65 FSTBK's are hard to find

Get yourself a donor coupe and remove the cowl forward New dash will be on the front clip.. Cut the old cowl off the fastback. Put the coupe cowl on at the factory seams and half of the car is done. Do the back end the next weekend. Throw in a rail straighten the floor and 1/4.After40-80hrs she will be ready for mud work. Assuming you can give 8-10hrs each day on the weekends. This is not factoring in rust work. We started with less because of rust on my Fathers 66. The original sheet metal on that is the roof deck lid and pass. door. It received aused cowl section. New rails and aprons(saved the towers). new floors, fenders, 1/4's, hood, door, tail panelleft rear rail and trunk floors, and valences. New interior engine suspension and what ever else I am missing............. FIX IT!!

And if you do a clip from a donor car, save both original VIN numbers stamped into the left handfender apron to transfer, by some careful welding, to the new front apron. The same may apply to the VIN stamped on the right hand side apron near the hood hinge.

Keep it... If you do the work yourself you would be surprised how inexpensive it could be. Plus, once your finished It will be something you love and cherish for a Long Long time

I have seen that front-clips can be swapped from donor cars, but I have no experience with that first hand. Would the "new" clip be cut through the windshield posts? There have been a couple of comments about roof problems - my car has a small buckle above the drivers side door, but I would think that it's fixable, especially if the front end was off to get it straight.

I happen to have a '65 coupe that I bought a while back that is completely disassembled that I could use as a donor for some things - the coupe is straight and clean (media-blasted). How much of the floor from a coupe can be used in a fastback? My fastback has a warp under the backseat area.

I agree that doing the work myself would be miles less expensive, but I am not equipped with the tools or experience to get the job done.

If the firewall is bent, scrap it. If not, Contact Mustang village in Fontana,Ca for a rear qtr panel (I bought one for my coupe from him) it isn't that much for parts 1K or less. He may want your car to part out too!
