It's your car! Make into the car YOU want! If you want to put in an auto and slap GTA badges on it, great! If you want to paint it plum purple or plyboy pink Great! If you want to put spacers and 20's cool, it's your car! Do what ever you think you will enjoy!

BUT no matter what DON'T try to make a profit off someone by passing it off as something it is not when you sell it!! As desception for personal gain IS WRONG!

I never plan on selling this car. It will pass it on to one of my kids. So selling it an an orginal GTA is not an issue. Becides the fog lamps and the power equiptment what else was part of the GT equiptment group.

Is there a conversion for the clutch linkage to take out some of the petal effort.

The pedal effort is typically a result of a stiff pressure plate. When it comes to pressure plates... stiff is good.

Pressure Plates come in several different flavors. I have a Hays long style 2400# plate which is a performance plate and is pretty stiff. This is to make sure the clutch is fully engaged and provide extra holding when applying big power. If you are not going to run more than 300hp, then you could get away with a long style 1800# plate or possibly convert to a diagram style. That would be the easiest petal push I know of and still keep it a manual clutch. Do you have any idea what size and kind of pressure plate you have?

As for power steering and power brakes, I highly recommend upgrading. I have an orignal PS car that was manual steering when I bought it. I put the PS back on, and what a difference! As for brakes, I am still manual, but PB is my near furture. It is just too hard to stop with these stupid people in San Antonio.

the way i look at it do whatever you want its your car.if you do a clone when you sell it if you dont try to pass it off as a real one.glen easy way to tell a real and fake rolex is the second hand if its smooth its real if its jerky like every other watch its fake.

Here is my Rolex. Is it fake?

I bought a Rolex from a street vendor in Tijuana who claimed that it was real (yeah, right ) and the dial fell off of it before I even hit the border.

To clarify my original post, the reason why I'm not a huge fan of clones is not that they don't look cool, rather I feel they cheapen the original. It is to the point that if I see a 'Shelby', I think it is fake unless proven otherwise. :sigh:

[edit] Glen,I don't know squat about nice watches (I haven't worn one in 15 years), but the only reason I would guess that the one you posted is a fake is because of the slight scratch in the crystal by 12 o'clock. My buddy's Rolex has been through hell and the crystal still looks great and doesn't scratch easily. Am I right or wrong?
Yeah, it's a fake. I bought it in Osan, Korea off of a street vendor for $10.00. I have had it for about 10 years and it is still ticking. Not a bad price for a watch that still runs after 10 years. One buck a year.

The whole clone thing is funny. Didn't Shelby just take a Mustang and modify it? Didn't GT's GTA's and 6 bangers get built on the same assembly line. If you put the parts on the car that makes it the same as another then isn't it is just as good? Same parst. Now if you take aFalcon and try to make it look like a Mustang, then it's a fake (well Ford did that too). As for selling a 6 banger GT equipped car as a GT that is fraud, but buyer beware. There are ways to check this stuff with the VIN. Anyway, if you like the fog lights and hood, PS, PB then go for it. If you put the badges on because you like the way it looks great. There are a lot of Mustangs out there with stuff that was options not originally on the car and they are still cool. In my opinion.
It is good to have correct originals but most of us will never afford one and I wouldn't want one because I would be afraid to drive it. Make it safe and make it fun. If it looks good to then thats a bonus!
Again this is just my opinion.

That was my reasoning. I was going to put on the power options with ford correct parts. I have all ready updated the supension. The only thing I was missing from the GTA equipted cars would be the fog-lights and the badges, stipes, andgas cap. I have not yet decided if I want to swap the manual for an auto trans but I am thinking about it. I am not building this car to sell, I just want to make it more fun/eaiser to drive. stopping at highway speeds with the manualbrakes when some one does something stupid is always fun in the car right now. I think I might need to spend some time in the gym doing leg presses so I can stop the car.
