GTA clone or not
After the drive to Austinand back and driving nassuabayman,s car I am think about upgrading my manual everything car to power. Steering, brakes ETC. My question is Would any of you spend the extra money and put on the rest of the GT options (fog lamps badges etc and what do you all think about a 3 speed manual to automatic)
Upgrading to all power would make for a much nicer ride. I'm partial to manual trannies though.I'm not to sure about the GTA badges and equipment, mainly because ifI wouldgo that route, next would come the tach and all the interior items, then the9" then the 390 thenthe..... you get the idea.Thats me though, you might have more control over yourself than I do myself.
I think you should forget an automatic and find a 4 speed toploader if you want to get one more gear. That would be the cheapest and most sane way to add another gear. The C4 and C6 are only 3 speed. But,you and I have the same 3 speed transmission, and in 3rd gear, we are cruising at a 1 to 1 ratio just like the 4 speeds.
Power everything ... sure. Auto vs. manual ... whatever you prefer. Clone the GT ... [sm=noooo.gif]
That is my own personal belief. If you want to clone it, go for it.To me, adding the performance options of a GT is a nice idea, but rebadging it is like sewing Levis tags on your Toughskins (remember those?).
That reminds me, I have to remove that 289 Hi-Po sticker off my air cleaner.

I'm with gothand on the cloning idea. I hate fakes of any kind !Fake cars, fake Rolex's , fake toupee's , fake ***** ......... well OK , I like fake *****. Remember a fat dude in a tuxedo is still a fat dude.
Power assisted steering and brakes ? Absolutely ! The older you get, the more you'll appreciate them.
As for changing transmissions ... if it isn't your daily driver and if you like banging gears .... ever thought about a late model 5 speed swap out of a 5 liter Mustang ? I'm thinking 5 th gear might be a nice little addition to performance and milage.

The reason I was thinking about the trans is the 3speed dosent give the car any performance over a c4 or c6. I just have to mess with the clutch 3 times by the time I get to 30 MPH if I am not trying to leave the line fast.
I also have driven in to work twice I live in cypress its out 290 towards Austin from Houston, and my office is in the med center. 35 miles one way it takes about 70-90 minutes to get to work. With the old mechanical clutch I can not enjoy driving the car into work my leg is about to drop off by the time I get there. If I did the TKO swap is there a kit to replace the clutch linkage? I like the fact that I could get to highway speed at 2000 rmp instead of 2900. I had several manual cars when I was younger. I guess I must be getting old since I am even thinking about a manual for automatic swap.

) and the dial fell off of it before I even hit the border.
To clarify my original post, the reason why I'm not a huge fan of clones is not that they don't look cool, rather I feel they cheapen the original. It is to the point that if I see a 'Shelby', I think it is fake unless proven otherwise. :sigh:
[edit] Glen,I don't know squat about nice watches (I haven't worn one in 15 years), but the only reason I would guess that the one you posted is a fake is because of the slight scratch in the crystal by 12 o'clock. My buddy's Rolex has been through hell and the crystal still looks great and doesn't scratch easily. Am I right or wrong?
Of the things I've done to my car, the wheels and new stance get the most attention and compliments from total strangers. But the most gratifying mod I did was to add the T-5z from Ford Racing. I have a rear-end gear that would bo too low for most of these guys, and yet the overdrive gear at 0.63 does a beautiful jub of cruising down the highway. I feel I've got it all; I can push through all five gears in order if I'm trying to haul, or I can pull out a 1-3-5 or a 2-4-5 if I'm in no hurry or the shifting becomes a bother. It's smooth and has no opinion; the transmission never questions me. I'm not trying to sell anyone else on this set-up, but I love it. Power disc brakes are awesome. It'll make you realize how bad the drums can be with multiple stops. I'm looking forward to the power steering... haven't pulled the trigger yet, but the Randall's Rack seems like the way I'll go. As for faking it with the GT, why not fake it better than the original! It was 40 yr old technology. Improving on an original GT seems very doable.
I certainly am not an expert on fake Rolex's. If it's a fake, and if you wear it to impress others or to deceive them into believing it's genuine ... shame on you. If it's real, congratulations on your success in life and you should wear it proudly.
