What steering wheel do you have? If stock, you may need to move the tube up an 1/8 of an inch on the column.

Default RE: Steering Wheel installation

Jim,

The steering wheel that I got was from NPD, part 3600-10A. It is called a custom grant steering wheel. It is the genuine hardwood wheel. But you are absolutely right. The column needs to be moved up about 1/8". I tried by unbolting the bracket that holds the column tube, but the tube would not break free from the bracket. The previous owner has painted the two together and there seems to be some glue stuff keeping the bracket "attached" to the tube. I needed another pair of hands to break it free and adjust the column housing appropriately. Well, maybe next weekend! I took the car out for a drive today and noticed a squeeking noice coming from the steering wheel. It sounds like two plastic pieces rubbing together. I am pretty sure that I installed everything right! Has anyone else had this problem or know what might be rubbing? Could the poorly adjusted column housing cause this noise?
