Default hp estimate and questions. Please read

I have 3 questions

1) any idea what horsepowermy 1970 mustang coupe would have if it has a 351 2vcleavland out of a 1972 torino. also i would like to ask.

2) How can I tell what kind of exhaust i have on the car? It doesnt have any marking of a brand name on the mufflers.

3)My stang already has a deep sound but I want to have it a bit more louder. Would headers add a big diffrence? Any particular brand or type of header thats the loudest? Right now I have dualstraight pipes coming from the block into a aftermarket muffler on each side.

Any info helps! Thanks

As far as HP we need more info. What parts and specifications were used to build the motor? If it is bone stock I would say less than 300 HP at the flywheel. As far as sound if your mufflers are not marked then they are probably not brand name mufflers. If they are long tubs slightly wider than your exhaust than you have cherry bombs and if they are oval shaped, about 12" long and 8" wide you have turbo stile mufflers. Headers will make a huge difference in the sound of your exhaust. Headers open up the flow of the exhaust and in the same way open up the sound. Makes it less muffled and more full bodied with out effecting volume.

If the engine code was an 'H' on the donor Torino, 164 hp @ 4000 rpm.

As this stage of you car's life, assume that they have been replaced. The only thing left is wheather you havea single or dual exhaust system.

Ok I measured. its a 14x10 inch muffler on each side but doesnt have any markings of a brand. The pipe is 2 1/4 inch wide and the pipe reads "IMCO 225 ALUM 146A" no clue what that means but maybe yall can tell me by that number what exhaust has been put on. I am proabably going to put headers on and it should sound real nice with the 351c and straigt pipes coming back.

as far as the motor i belive its stock. im sure its around the 250-275 range for hp. the headers should add some too. what should i look to find out if its a h motor? all i know is thats a 351c 2v out of a 72 torino and put into my 1970 coupe.

Any info helps. reply soon! Thanks guys!

just looked imco and it seems like the make chery bomb mufflers? do i have a good brand exhaust or is it worth changing? It sounds pretty decent right now. Headers would proabalby change the whole sound. please research and can someone find me the same exhaust system so i can see what its retailing and if its a good pipe.

thanks again

view message above for the exhaustnumber

leave your mufflers alone, worry about headers for now.

As far as making a deep loud sound is it better to have a h pipe? I have straight pipes coming off the block into a muffler on each side and out. When i get the headers put on ill drive it open to the shop to get them welded but while im there i could have them cut a pipe to make a h exhaust. Would that be deeper and louder than straight?
