Default Road Demon Carb Question

I just put a road demon 625 on my 302 and hooked it all up... but i found that there is less travel in the accelerator than in the carb throttle level... How do i fix that? Right now it idles fine but if i push the gas pedal all the way down it only opens up about 75% of the carb... anyone run into this before... any good fix ideas?

Pictures of your engine compartment around the accelerator linkage would be a help.

Yeah, we need some pics. It sounds as if the linkage is too short.

Just disconnect the linkage at the carb, and turn it clockwise. It will shorten the linkage and fix the problem. If by yourself, disconnect the return spring also. Let the peda land rod relax, and you can feel when it hits the floor. Pull the carb open all the way and shorten the linkage until the rod just slips in.

Ok, ill take some pics but it won't be until tomorrow... and i can promise the linkage isn't too short... let me try to explain another way:

Carble throttle level travel from idle to full open: 2 inches
Throttle bar (or whatever it's called connected to the accelerater pedal) total possible travel from hitting intake manifold to the firewall: 1.5 inches!

So i can either link it up at idle and only be able to get the carb about 75% open, or link it up and full throttle but then the carb will be at 25% open when it should be at idle!!! Just annoying!

My linkage is just an all tread from osh then a linkage kit from summit, so i can move it as long or short and it needs to be, the linkage isn't the problem.

oh... yea... and i did that early... the hook it up when the pedal is pressed all the way down... but like i said then at start up the throttle is already open 25% and if i lengthen the linkage that 25% then i can only hit 75% open on the carb when the accelerator is pushed all the way down.

John,
Pismo! Mecca! I played there with my sandrail for many years. Get some pictures up and we will make it work.

It's wierd about the Demon's. They are beautiful and very well made but a lot of people have had a very hard time getting the tuned properly. I had two defective out-of-the-box Mighty Demons before went went back to a Holley with 0 issues.

Hope you get you problem revolved quickly - if you don't, they have a fairly decent tech help line.

Thanks JMD... that's what i ended up doing. that brought the accelerator far enough away from the manifold so that i have enough travel now :-) !!!! I do need to get pics up asap! I'm pretty proud of what i've done so far.
