Default 1967 mustang

i just found a 67 mustang with a 5.0 in it, it needs paint but other than that i dont see anything else wrong with it exterior wise. what should i look for, and what do you think would be a reasonable offer on it? the floorpans need replaced tho because they are rusted. im going back in a few days to look it oververy carefully, i just happened to catch the guy right before he went to work.

check the wheel archs with a magnet.a magnet wont stick to body filler.also if the floor is rusted out the cowl vent is rusted out of doors/glass seals leaking.cowl vent you can check with a garden hose pour water in the cowl vent its the holes by the windsheild wipers if it pours out in the floor the cowl is rusted out normal it drains out down the firewall.how much is he asking more wrong with it lower the price should get.

Just because the floor pans are rusted doesn't mean the cowl is. But check it anyway. My floorpans needed to be replaced, but my cowl is perfect. Floor pan rust is usually caused by a leaky heater core, wet feet which the carpet will absorb and keep, and stuff being spilled. But of course if the cowl is gone for then the pans definitely are from all the leaking.

Most of the time, if the floors are rusted, the rusted out cowl caused it.

yes rusted cowl or leaking glass seals. to rust holes in the floor pan it need water in it for a long time leaking heater core wouldnt give out enough water to do that unless you drove the car like that for a long time many years but the smell of musty moldy carpet would drive you nuts tho.pray its a door or glass seal is where the water came from.look under the car and get a good look at the frame rails its a unibody theres 2 sets a front and a rear and just keep a eye out for rust holes.
