Ok,, I just ran out and looked at mine,,

Red wire=no red on mine only orange and the orange is the voltage regulator on the little post
black wire= ground find the ground on the alternator should be three little lines that look like an upside down christmass tree
black/red stripe= should be the ground attached to the engine block it will be split off of the little blackground wire coming offthe alternator and attached to the engine with a huge eyelet and a bolt
thick black= should be your hot wire straight from the hot side of the solinoid to the +on the alternator

let me know if it looks the same!

well i just looked at mine again... the red is some what orange....

but here are the labels on my alt...

i have posts called ....... STA, GRD, BATT, FLO, and one is not labled

so im guessing here that the big black wire goes to the BATT, the little black one goes to GRD, so would the orange go to FLO,

and the black with red stripe the eyelet is not all that big... nothing big enough for a bolt into the block so im lost

Well,, is the black/red stripeone tied into the little black ground? If so then just ground it to the firewall or a screw somewhere on the block or frame.

Knothing goes on the STA,, but the others are as you have put it.. You should be able to start her up and check to see if everything is working right by pulling the red battery cable off of the battery. If it stays running then its charging ,, if not then something is not hooked up right. Just dont hook the STA to ground like I did.. Itwont charge..

Sorry it took so long for the reply,, i got caught up in some TV show and laundry..
