I don't feel like having to massage my tunnel to get a TKO to clear.
The TKO 600 we put in my son's 66 fit with absolutly -0- modifications to the car......

Fit like a glove.... except not as tight as a glove, there is plenty of clearance. I did drop the trany crossmember about 1 1/2", (I think they sent the crossmember for a T-5, not a TKO) but fit, finish, and function are perfect.

That tranny crossmember drop is what saved you. Tremecs are square on top, which means they run right into the tunnel without modifications. Generally you either have to go at it with a BFH or cut a couple small strips out to clear.

Your method works...kinda. Problem is, now the pinion anglemight beoff.

The pinion angle is fine, we raised the rear end of the car some so the tranny drop actually improves pinion angle, I am not a bigfan of the always going uphill look...

i use cjponyparts alot and they dont rebuild C4s but they sell new ones, the cheapest its $900 but is built to handle 450hp, thats a bit to pricey for me though, im going to spend almost 5k total on the engine

If it includes the torque converter it is a good deal, (imo)you can figure about $200.00 for a converter no matter what route you take...

When investigating this rebuild / replacement it is important to know whether the price quote includes the converter or not.

Another option would be to use your curent C-4 untill you kill it..... (if it works)... It can be fun "killing parts"... If it works now, you should be able to make it last a while by staying out of it, when you get ready for a new one,,,,,,,, kill it....

I guess that would work

And yeah, I like the 'run it until it goes BOOM' principle Meanwhile, save up for a beefier model. Just don't listen to the people that tell you to go C6. They gobble power, weigh a ton, and a good built C4 will handle just as much power anyway.
