Under vynil Top ?
Can you easily remove a vinyl top and just paint over ? Or is there glue and all that other stuff under there you have to worry about it ?
Or anything else i might have to worry about when removing a vynil top ?

will be glue and possibly rust back in the day one reason why manufacturers installed vynal tops was to hide defects in the roof so you might find a lot of body filler under it but im sure it can be made perfect but its not just a remove and prep and paint project
A lot of problems with cars with vinyl tops is that there is a buttload of rust underneath, sometimes even pinholes going all the way through. They are easily to remove but sometimes you would wish you have kept it on.
However some cars with vinyl tops have a pefect roof under. It really depends on where the car lived its life, and how well maintained it was. But in either case some body work will of course be needed.

well i had a top on mine and no body shop would give me a quote because they wanted to see what it looked like under... so i took the top off... it took me 5 mins to take off. Start at a corner with a blade and then rip the rest off.... mine didnt have too much rust just light surface, and no dings... looks good... the glue does need to be taking off but body shops can do that easily.... i hope it works out for you.

mine had one lucky there was on surface rust no holes. only problem with a vynil tops is once water gets under it,it doesnt come out and just sits there rusting.if it was installed right and theres no rips or tears it should be fine.only car company i know of that put a vynil top on a car to hide rough sheet metal was the roadrunner superbird and the charger daytona the winged mopars when they pulled the backwindow out they did a crappy job on it.
Based on your question, I would pull off the vinyl top and spend the time and money on making the roof right. The ones that I had seen in the past were not all that bad. I have a 65 coupe which had a vinyl top. I removed it, sanded it down to remove the rust, repaired the holes, treated with rust treatment and smooth out the top as required. Then primer/sealer and kept wet sanding and primering until I got the roof to a respectable shape. I tried to post several photos......wouldn't attach. Let me know if you want to see some before and after pictures.
