Default turning signals = need help

i have a 67 fastback, the turning signals do not work at all. the hazards do not work at all either. however when i press the brake the dash turn signals light up, both at the same time and stay light untill i depress the brake. is this normal?

ive done a search but havnt found the answer. also i checked the bulbs and they work fine. ive looked as most of the wireing i can see and it looks fine. what gives?

The switch assembly can be the problen. However, check the flashers first. If bad, replace with the solid state ones. They are a few more dollars, but will work if you loose a bulb. Anyway it would'nt hurt to spend the money on one just to see if it cures the problem as it would make a good upgrade anyway when you resolve the problem. Check the plugs and grounds also.

Brake wiring isshorted to the turn signal/flasher wiring, or something is wired improperly
