Licence plate light

Default Licence plate light

Does the 1968 come with a light for the licence plate on the back? Our car did not have this and the state inspector failed the car.

My 66 has one and I had mine car for 17 years now. I guess it was stock. I would think yours would have one too.

Yes, you should have a bulb for the license plate. It would be located in the rear bumper, you cant see it unless you look underneath the bumper. Mine is very dim and would probably fail, yours may be dim or blown out.

I looked at mine 66 and it is wired in to the left taillight.

My 68 didn't have one when I bought it. I suspect when they replaced the rear bumper they didn't salvage the light. Anyway National Parts Depot sells replacements. You have to remove the bumper to install it. Where the wiring harness from the left tail light to the right goes under the trunk latch bracket there should be a female bayonet connection to power the light.
