Get a rack and pinion setup. It makes a huge difference in the steering response. I have a unisteer setup and it works great. No slop at all or wandering. Why rebuild old technology !
Another vote for R&P, Even my wife likes the Unisteer, easier while parking the car.

here's my setup and cost:

power steering pump and mounting bracket: $10 from junkyard
Control valve: $110 YearOne
Slave Cylinder: $105 YearOne
Hoses: ~$80 Chockostang/CJ Pony Parts
Even upgraded to a quicksteer 16:1 ratio: $160 Chockostang

Less than $500 for manual to power steering! You might check YearOne for R&P if you're planning to go that route...

i know manual steering is unsafe... but thats the thrill ... plus it builds muscle
