Do you need the key if you're just turning it with the paperclip? I was under the impression you could just use a screwdriver or something but I'm probably wrong.

 

you have to have a key in and turn it left to 'acc' position.
This will move a tiny hole over a little pushrod that you normally can't access. when you push this tiny rod with a paperclip you can pull the lock out of ignition.
