Default Back to the WeberCarterBrock

So, the Holley basically came apart this week. [>:]The threads for the vacuum secondary diaphragm basically came out....and I don't mean cross threaded, I mean they simply unwound and fell out, the plastic housing for it also cracked(though that wasn't a big deal) and the secondary diaphragm tore(actually looked like it had been chewed by a dog, and I'd never opened up the housing, only used the quick change to change springs, so I'd never touched the diaphragm). Then the threads for the pump squirter screw stripped....before there was even enough force applied to completely crush the disc gasket!!!!! [:@]So, I stuck the old Edelbrock AVS 650 on it. Haven't dialed it in yet, but it seems like it may actually be making more power with the Edelbrock(it is a bigger carb though), and feels like it's more docile in the normal driving(though the Holley was very streetable too). And it seems like the accelerator pump is working very well(this time at least). It remains to be seen if I'll have the same throttle response though....but at least I have metering rods now It seems to idle more aggressively too, it just sounds meaner at the same idle speed with the idle screws set right

So, anyone wanna donate to a fun to buy me a Pro Systems?

Yes, yes it did. The Edelbrock is still in 1 piece btw, even thoguh I've had and used it for longer. I can't say I'm pleased with the quality of the Holley. The whole point of being able to change squirters and springs etc is tuning....what good is a carb that doesn't like to be tinkered with for very long without breaking [:'(]I've never had an Edelbrock break or strip, or crack or anything. I'll see what they say when I call them on monday

So I got ahold of Holley, and even though I bought the thing back in January they'll still warranty it. They said to just mail them the carb with a note about what happened and they'll fix/replace it
