Default 50oz flywheel and toploader

My 87 347 came with a 50oz damper and flywheel. I will be using a Centerforce clutch and pressure plate. I know those will work with the toploader as far as splines. Has anyone used a late model 50oz flywheel with an older toploader? Should I be able to use my old starter? I was told the old starter may still work.

Should not be a problem. Both are likely 157 tooth and will line right up with the starter.

They're both 147 tooth, the difference is the later flywheels are setup for 10 or 10.5" clutches, the early are only setup for 10"
