i recently put a new clutch in, and now i have a strange tapping sound coming from the motor. i thought at first it was because i took off the exaust pipes. now they are back on and it is still there. i started the motor( 6cyl. 200, with three speed manual) and pressed on the oil pan and it changed the noise. did i not line the clutch up right? please help i need this car to work.

 

Are you certain that you installed the clutch disk the right way out?

I have seen this done more than once!!

This can cause things to be noisy....

Other than that I assume you put the same bolts back into the flywheel... if bolts are too long they can sometimes strike things where they stick through the flywheel....

And, it could be coincidence, and you might be having another issue separate from the clutch,,,, but I really doubt it... you may just need to re-do the clutch..... and yes, re-do's suck.....
