Default Are these Spindles ok

I bought some V8 spindles for my 66 a year ago on Ebay but my Stang was rear ended before I was able to get around to installing them. Now that my car is back together I am getting ready to do the swap from 4 to 5 lugs.

What do you guys thinkabout the wear on these spindles. There is a small groove on the spindle where the back side of the inner bearing rests (one is a little worse than the other). There is also a little wear on the bearing surface but it is smooth. I know that 40 year old spindles aren’t going to be like new but are these ok? If not, could a machine shop fix them?

Thanks!

While the second one shows a little wear on the vertical shoulder where a bearing must have come apart, I would not be afraid of them.

They do not show "bluing" as evidence of heat created by a spun bearing.

The critical parts of the spindles where the bearings contact the shaft look goodfrom what I can see in the photos. The area where the seals fit looks serviceable as well.

I would use them without trepidation.

Yeah, they look alright to me. Clean 'em, paint 'em and use 'em.

Maybe it's just the camera. But do the threads on the spindle ends look that choppy in real life?

Yea on second look, the threads do look a little screwed up in the photos,,,, these do need to be in good shape....

<<on third look it kinda looks like grease/debris in the threads>>

That is just in the picture. Probably from when I resized the image. The treads are fine in real life.

Thanks for the input guys!

I'll be swapping out the other V8 steering parts and installing some SSBC brakes.
