6 inline and T5
I've found articles on T5 transmission swaps, but no details on how this should be done on a 6 cyl. inline. I know people have done it, but I can't find anything. Anyone have any links on this or other sources of info for a DIY job? Thanks.
I would not know where to go with this except to try and find some common ground with regard to transmissions that will work with the I-6 bell housing and a V-8 bell, and start from there....
I do have a recomendation,,, if going with a T-5 for your I-6,,, find a way to get some 4.10 gears in there, you will not regret your decision...
We ran the 66 with anI-6 and 4.10 gears for a while, it was ablast to drive....

Hey pilot, I have the same plans as you, I have been doing a tad of research and could find limited information. There are complete kits you can buy here:

And some information on clutches can be found here:

Im no 6 cyl expert, but what Ive read on this is that later (dont know what years) 200s have a dual bolt pattern on the bellhousing, so you can use either a 6 cyl or v8 bellhousing. All 250s that I know of had the v8 bellhousing.
I am wondering if a T5 from a 4 cyl Mustang would be a good choice for a 6 cyl classic. The gearing will be a little lower in first and may give you bette acceleration without changing the rear gears.Just a thought.
Thanks for all the info! I'd like to do this with minimal complication, being a first timer doing this. The kits look like the best way for me. I'd seen the ModernDriveline website, but wanted to pass this question by Mustangers here first.
The transmission in my car now is an auto C4. It wasn't the original according to the data plate (which indicates 2.77 3-spd). It's obviously been changed by a previous owner. Am I correct in assuming that this bell housing wouldn't work with the T5?
