Why are you going mechanical and not electrical? Just curious.

I have an Edelbrock (sp?) intake, and it has multiple ports for temp guages. I just backed out one of the plugs and installed the probe. It gets a much more accurate reading than an electical guage. Same thing with oil pressure: there's a splitter on the stem that the stock guage ran from, so I have both the stock electrical guage and a mechanical unit running simultaneously.

Buy anadapter. You should be able to go to Napa Auto Parts or somewhere similar and pick up a 5/8" to 3/8" adapter (or other sizes to apply to your application). Heres something I found on JCWhitney.com

Call around to your local hardware shop. I believe the correct water temp size for your application is a 3/8" NPT. Yes a mechanical oil gauge will fit. You just have to buy the right size, or get an adapter. I believe the correct size oil gauge sending unit for you is a 5/8". Don't quote me on that. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Yeah, you just need a pipe threaded bushing. Easy find at any hardware store, and many Napa stores will have it as well.
