Default Turn signal switch

Is replacing a turn signal switch on a 67 a big deal? The turn signal handle is constantly falling from the center position down to the left turn signal position. And it won't cancel after making a left turn. I figure I have to replace the switch but am wondering how difficult that job would be. Also, there is a turn signal cam repair kit available for about $10 as opposed to about $78 for the complete switch assembly. Anyone know if these cam repair kits are any good?

Not sure about the cam repair kit

But just a few months ago I replaced the whole switch in my '66 and it was a half hour job at most

pretty easy

I just did the switch on my 69 which was doing the same thing as yours. If yours is the original switch you might as well replace it because if its not bad now it will be sometime in the future. Do it now and it will be good for another 40 years.

Just pulled mine out on a 68, it was a pain. Get prepaired to strip the stearing collum. Just be careful not to damage the wire connecting block, you will need to reuse it.

Contrary to the other posts, it's reallya matter of your mechanical skills and it's not that difficult compared to other mechanical operations on a vehicle. To replace it requires that you pull the steering wheel, loosen the column mount strap, and unplug the switch. You may need to unpin the switch plug to get the wires thru the column. Have a wiring diagram handy (go to the FAQ section if you don't have one). Before you pull the exisiting wires out, tie a pice of stiff wire totheold plugthat will allow you to attach too for easier installation of the new harness. Use the stiff wire to pull the new harness down the column.Reverse the operation to install.
