Default new motor questions

So, I'm looking to replace my 289 put a 351c in my 67 coupe and I'm wondering what kind of modifications need to be made before it can fit. The battery is already in the trunk so that isnt a problem. I'm just wondering if there is anything else besides new mounting brackets.

New Exhaust?

Other than that it should bolt in just fine.

Not when using header for the swap.

I like www.fordpowertrain.com personally...others will complain that they are pricey...but they will work

have a radiator that'll have sufficent cooling capacity so it won't overheat with the larger engine....we had a guy with a 68 that was using the stock 289/302 radiator and it was a little on the small side..a larger 3 core solved his overheat issue

okay so after doing a little bit more research. im not sure if it would be better to build up the 289 that i have or would it really be better to get the bigger motor. im really looking to make the most power i can.

so would it be more benificial to beef up the 289 with cam, intake, heads, header, carb and such?

with added displacement comes the ability to have more power. can your 289 make big power HELL YEA! plus you can keep all your accesories and brackets which can become a nightmare when changing to a completely different motor. you could stroke it to a 347 and have yourself a 400 plus hp motor and drive it damn near every day. and itll still look like a tiny itty bitty 289. on the other hand you could swap in a 351 and stroke it to 408ci and have 500+ hp on tap. hp cost money plain and simple. this is why crate motors are so popular, till you get done building a stroker yourself you could have saved money buying a crate motor thats been dynoed and you know exactly how much power it makes plus a warranty to boot! something to think about.
