Default Which toploader??????

I am restoring a '65 Falcon 2dr hdtp. We have made modifications With help from Crites and the car now has a 351 Windsor with a C4 auto. We have since torn it down again and had the body sent off to be media blasted. While it's torn down I was wanting to find a toploader 4spd for it, but I'm not sure what I need. The 351W for my car is from a 1969 mustang. Some one has told me that falcons are odd ***** compared to fairlanes/mustangs etc when it comes to toploaders and that a toploader from a mustang/fairlane won't work (because of the shifter location?????). Do I need to find a toploader from a 1969 mustang to match the engine or do I need one from a '65 falcon to match the car? I'm sure the bellhousing plays a role in this too, but I'm not sure what I need. Hopefullysomeone can help and I appreciate any info I can get.

Thanks,

Danny

I think rmodel65 has it nailed, but to remove any doubt and determine exactly what you need contact Mark Harmond @ Toploader Heaven. He is a real expert on all things Toploader and a great guy.

Thanks for the info!!! I just sent the question off to Toploader Heaven. I agree......everything I have read, learned and know all tell me the Mustang and Falcon are interchangeable on nearly everything.Don'tknow ifwhat I heardis correct, butI havebeen toldthat this is not true with 4 speed toploaders and that I have to be careful.........especially with the engine swap I have made. I have had to make many modifications with a lot of other things just to get the engine and C4 to go in and work smoothly(and still look good). This is probably just another small hurdle, but I want to make sure it's right the first time.

Thanks again!!!

Danny

Actually, iirc, the Falcon/Ranchero tranny tailhousing has the shifter mount too far forward to be able to use it in a Mustang.
