I think for the money the Challenger is overpriced, and then the gas pump is going to stick it to you as well. The Pontiac G8 looks like a decent car and under 30k, not bad, might convince the wife it's a good family car. I am still looking at an 09/10 mustang, the fact that it's a survivor makes me admire the car that much more. Only the Corvette and the Mustang have withstood the test of time.

Sure I'll look (Camaro/Challenger) but I don't think I'll touch.

Why the hell can't you have an automatic in a muscle car? The fastest cars I've ever seen all had automatics.
It's not about "why you can't have an automatic in a muscle car". It's about having thechoice. Or not, as itis in this case. As far as I'm concerned, the lack of choice is a deal-breaker all by itself. Tell me that I have no choice but to accept your car with an automatic and I'll tell you that you just sold one less car, guaranteed. And perhaps a few more based on word of mouth.

Maybe the fastest cars you've seen did have automatics. But I'll bet that they weren't all that happy most places other than at the dragstrip. Understand that there's a huge amount more to driving than just eighth- and quarter-mile numbers or whether you beatsome Camaro/Firebird/Chevelle/Road Runner/etc. off the traffic light or not.

Sorry but I a not spending 41K for any car and that is sticker not auction retail. None of you will ever get a chance to test drive this car for at least 3 years. I have already talked to the dealer and its very unlikly you will see one on the show room floor anytime soon and ontop of that for the extra 12K that the challener cost over a hot new mustang you can tweak the mustang to eat its lunch. All you have to do is see of you can beat a charger in a race and if you can then your mustang will tear a whopping brown hole in this cars carcass. I will wait for the camaros and if GM is stupid enough to produce a car that requires a 3K gas guzzler tax and weights 4K+ then I will be buying collectors until I die. What a waste of an opportunity. Chrysler should have mass produced this car for less then 30K but its too late now. THey have pissed off most of us and we are the ones that appreciate cars like this.

I'd guess that some sort of individual rear wheel braking form of traction control will show up, even though IRS is somewhat less likely to spin the RR.

There's something terribly distorted and downright crazy in logic that says if you want to accelerate hard, let's band-aid any wheelspin issue by applying a brake instead of fixing the basic problem of it wanting to spin in the first place.

New and high-tech "solutions" just because something can be done that way does not at all mean that they should be done that way.
