Default Which is Right? for identification

When I first bought the 65 stang, It was setup for dragging, Air Shocks in the rear, fat tires, tented windows, and a small steering wheel.
The exterior was all black and the drivers side door was gold and so was the hood. Question is, the identification on the door is from another mustang.
I can barly make out the engine compartment number, but I guess to decode it, I need to have warranty number correct?
lol funny thing is, I think the cars title is to the door stang....

thoughts....

There are more vins located under the fenders on the aprons. You will have to pull the fenders to see these.

you need the engine bay vin, but unfortunately that doesnt contain any info about paint, trim, gearbox, diff etc like the door tag

the vin will read
5RO7C123456

Where 5 = 1965
R = San Jose plant
T = metuchen plant
F = Dearborn plant

07 =Coupe, 08 vert, 09 fastback

C 200hp 2v 289, A 225hp 4v 289, k 271hp 4v 289, T 200ci i6 (theres a d and F code as well for 64.5 or early 65s)

six digit vehicle id number.

If you are real lucky you might find a build sheet under the dash or under the carpet. other than that your only hope of complete id is tracing previous owners

good luck
