so i have no clue what these two wires are for that i found under my shifter cover. i thought maybe they were for a light or something but there is no housing for a light so i really dont what it could be. any ideas.. its a 69 coupe auto C4 trans, 302. the first pic is the one wire (black) but if u look close towards the shifter comming out of the tape there is a small second wire. the second photo is kinda blurry but it shows the small one a bit better.

 

looks like the wire for the ilumination of the PRNDL / GEAR SELECTION

 

it looks fine to me, here's a pic from my 69's shifter. It looks like maybe you're missing the housing for it, but the wiring is still there.

 

ok so looking at your photo 4reboy the black wire is a ground but what is the blue/red wire.. both of mine have been ripped so i need to no where they go?

 

the blue/red wire has a light bulb socket fitting attached onto it, which in turn plugs into the housing. I'll browse my library for more pictures

 

it's for the james bond seat ejector................always make sure to have sun roof or convertible top open when ejecting...........

it's for the light to show you at night, what gear position your handle is in.
