Speedo Cable Question!!

Default Speedo Cable Question!!

i now have fixed ALL leaks on my car but 1(spots under my car drive me crazy) it looks like something is dripping off my speedo cable which is not in that great of shape. my question is is there fluid that runs in the cable????

No fluid in the cable, however, where it attaches to the transmission there is an o-ring that may be buggered.

It also possible that the gear holder has wear damage and its allowing fluid to seep around the speedo gear shaft while mounted to the adapter and that's why you have fluid in your cable. (hopefully the PO didn't pour oil in the cable housing to make it "work better") Try the "o"ring first, but be prepared to replace the gear holder and possibly flush the cable housing.

as stated, thatd be trans fluid. and a new speedo drive shouldnt be that hard to fin or put in if nessesary, but if it was me, id start with the cheap solution of checking the o rings
