Don't just get a big cam. If you're gonna spend the money now to get the right roller cam, then get the right roller cam. Call Comp for a reccomendation, they'll want to know everything about your setup, heads, intake, carb, compression, gearing, transmission, vehicle weight etc etc. But that way you get a cam that provides the best performance, and it will still sound good. You should be able to find a cam that'll work well and be affordable.

You definatly need the reduced base circle cam. The lifter bosses are taller in the roller block. The lower base circle cam keeps the lifters down in the bore where they belong. You cannot use the Z303 cam.

I suggest cam 13891 from Coasthigh.com.

With that cam, you can use the stock Ford lifters, spider, and dog bones.

The folks at Coast High will tell you which distributer gear to use. But I think the standard MSD part will work just fine. I use a standard Mallory distributer with the stock (Mallory) gear. No problems.
