Another Gas Price Thread...
I voted for Bush both times. Like said above, he was definitely the lesser of the evils I had to choose from.
Also, the gas prices are more due to the falling dollar than anything else.

The US government has failed to regulate the oil industry. That is why nearly every quarter, big oil companies have obscene record profits. They blame it on supply and demand (ignoring the weak dollar) and yet the refineries are operating at less than 80% .
I have friends and family who have done tours in Iraq and Afghanistan and they all feel that the Federal government under the Bush Admin has failed Americans. In many ways, the Federal Govt has failed veterans, failed the poor of this country, failed the middle class, failed public education, teachers, students, our crumbling infrastructure, the environment, the future generations of Americans. The Fed has failed to control inflation and failed to recognize that low interest rates were pumping hot air into the housing bubble. The "solution" of lowering rates further, giving tax breaks to the wealthy, refund checks to the little guy, in an desperate effort to stimulate the economy will all FAIL and lead to a continuing fall of the dollar.
Who have they NOT failed??? Wealthy Americans, corporations, big oil, financial institutions, private war enterprises, and themselves.
It is amazing to me that people continue to stand by Bush, even while being blatantly failed by his flawed policies. I fail to understand.
Again,

Again,
I think it would be even more impressive to hear you point out a couple ways in which the Bush Administration has helped to improve our country.
I really have no interest in getting involved in a longwinded debate on bush. I would on the other hand like to point out that you have mentioned just as many "facts" as those who voted for bush. So far you have just pointed out opinions with no supporting evidence. I could do the same but it is a waste of time. I really don't see how complaining about bush or defending bush will make anything better, no matter what he is gone in january. Shouldn't this be in a different section? What does this have to do with classics?
Apparently you are missing the big picture, well I suppose mis-informed blame has to be pushed on someone... Why not the president?
I voted for Bush and i would again, unlike many who have fallen into the fad of blaming the president for every occurance why not think about it a little more. In fact what would you or anyone else have done differently?
Anyway to pretend this thread is still about gas guzzling Mustangs, other than political opinions, gas prices do suck... what are you gonna do walk everywhere?
An afterthought after the original post...
One of the greatest things that Bush did that people seem to have forgotten is that President Bush led our country through what is considered the one of the worst tragedies in our countries history. Would you rather we did nothing about terrorisism or countries who support terrorist activities? Perhaps you believe the act of terrorism is an acceptable act? I know you don't but if you think about it that is the way it sounds.
Second aside from what everyone believes the problem of gas prices is coming from the condition of the dollar as Texas has said... The currency exchange is a cause of the dollar falling which has led to higher priced barrels to get the profit out of the dollar. Oil cartels are the ones who set prices...
Now speaking from a position of an economist, being that I have taken classes in the matter, tax breaks do stimulate economic activity regardless of what you believe and regardless of what you may think the economic problem is propaganda to the extreme. I am in no way rich but I am able to survive, it is the American dream to be rich, but that does not mean you are gonna get there. Oh and about the rich do you honestly believe they are not paying more then someone who is not rich? To say the rich don't contribute enough or more than the middle or (poor) class is ignorant and should be ignored.
Well that is it for my political spiel... Long live Mustangs! Oh and a nice saudi free fuel... E85 ethonol that is the way to go... I actually wish there was a station where I live I would love to run it in my Mustang and truck.

I don't want the US gov't "regulating" any business, unless it is in the interest of national security. Supply and demand is the only regulation I want.
The failure of the US gov't is just that, a failure of the government. If you want to rant, rant about the illegal aliens that use our resources without cost (schools, hospitals, fire, police, ambulance, welfare, food stamps, etc.) and the gutless politicians (congress as a whole) that refuse to establish a national language. Then you can fire on them for not creating import tariffs. Oh, then you can blame all the companies that have "oursourced" to the point that the US doesn't produce any hard goods anymore.
Oh, and tax cuts have been shown to stimulate the economy. The reduction of the capital gains tax rate actually increased tax revenues. At the same time it spurred investment. How can this be the problem?

1) bush was by far better than kerry
2) i didnt vote... i was only 14... but I would have voted for bush
3) everyone blames their problems on bush. Its not his fault gas prices are so high, its everyone elses. We will pay that much for gas, so why not charge that much. and honestly, if you were in the position of the dude making decisions about gas prices, you would increase them too. Either way, people always say bush is dumb and a horrible leader, well word on the street is that he has the highest IQ ever for a president, and who could handle a couple wars and the largest attack on american soil in years? not many people...
4) HOWEVER, this is a mustang forum... I have put like 2 tanks through my stang since I bought it... woohoo! never cared to calculate its mileage... If it gets like 4 mpg when im done, i prolly wont care that much...

Was too young to vote at the time, but would have voted for Bush over Kerry. I think we would have gone down the ****er alot faster under Kerry.
Like said, everyone likes to point the finger when something bad happends, and its always the "boss-man" that takes the blame. Meanwhile, these people that moan and groan about gas prices dont do anything about it personally (not saying any of you guys). If you have a SUV and its killing you, sell it...derr

For all you idiots that think the oil companies determine the price of oil and gas. All we do is put it through a meter as fast as we can.

You should also try to look up how much the government has recieved in taxes from oil companies...
Just wait until Hillary or Obama get into office. We will be paying $6 a gallon before you know it and will become more dependant on foreign oil. The Democrats do not want drilling or exporlation near the coast and will just make things worse.
FYI, people that work for most oil companies do no get discounts or free gas, and I personally dislike paying $3.00 a gallon like everybody else.
