Default P/S pump burnt out..

I just got to work and as I waspulling in to the parking lot my steering went out. Yesterday I had to replace the pressure hose because it had cracked and would squirt p/s fluid everywhere when I would turn.. So I replaced it, everything went great, bled the lines and this morning it goes out. I did run it dry for about 10 minutes when I lost my fluid and it was making some awful noises, but that all cleared up when I filled her back up after the new hose.. So im guessing I will just pick up anew pump.. they are $50 at kragen with a $25 core charge.. Is there anything I can try to get this pump working again? Let me know..

There is a good chance you damaged the cam pack when you ran it dry. If you filled it with fluid, and the system didn't make any noise before it gave out, then the cam pack may be alright after all.

The cam pack probably shed a little metal and a small piece got into the pressure valve and jammed it open. You would have to dismantle the whole pump to get to this, and even then, the valve may be damaged and will cause problems again.

Probably better off replacing the whole pump.
