Low End Torque Issues
Hi all,
I recently bought my first Mustang. It is a 1966 coupe with a 289 2bbl. After replacing the clutch, front suspension, rear leaf springs, motor mounts, front tires, radiator and air cleaner; I noticed a drop in low end torque and I was wondering if maybe my mechanic tuned it down. or if there some easy and preferably cheap ways to improve low end torque.
Thanks

If the old clutch was slipping onthe launch that would give you morepower at the roll because the engine is reving higher. Recheck the dwell and timing. The best way to improve low end torque is compression. It's not cheap though. The other thing I thought of was maybe a bad tank of gas could cause the problem?
Yeah, go through the basics. Tune up (plugs, wires, cap, rotor, timing), make sure everything's in good running condition. Could just be a timing issue. Set the advance at 8-10* @idle.
