65 instrument cluster ground
HEy Everyone:
Where and what grounds the instrument cluster lights and the constant voltage source? The 66 diagram shows a wire running to a spot under the dash, but I don' see anything for the 65. Any info and a picture would be awesome! thanks everyone!

I have had a problem with my 66's gauges for the last year. We think it is a ground problem. I ended up running a new wire from the IVR screw to the frame just above the steering column.
This is not the factory situation but I can't see any reason this would be a problem.

I haven't check on the wiring diagram, but my cluster gets ground of the dash (the metal). when I hook up all cables on the cluster and turn on the lightswitch the lights in cluster come on at the moment I put the cluster back into the dash. make sure your dash has ground. that might help then.

I'm not sure on a '65, but on a '66, there is a black wire on the backside of the instrument cluster with a bullet type connector. It connects to its bullet connector counterpart that should also be a black wire coming off of the center area of the metal dash structure area behind the cluster.
